| Objectives:
1. To significantly increase the number of Black Canadians in municipal,
provincial and federal parliaments and to support qualified candidates
for key leadership roles, including cabinet position.
2. To identify, encourage and promote Black Canadians for appointed
public leadership roles at all levels.
3. To highlight the need for, and to encourage the appointment
of Black Canadians to the municipal, federal and provincial civil
service.
4. To educate, motivate and inspire members of Canada’s Black
Community (adults and youths) to participate in the political process
at all levels, especially voting.
5. To encourage more Black Canadians to play leadership roles at
the level of riding and constituency associations and to become
members of political parties.
6. To support Black Canadians who have been elected or appointed
to public office. This could range from letters of support to quarterly
meetings and appreciations dinners and luncheons for political leaders.
7. To facilitate the black community in identify and clarify public
policy issues of vital interest, and to make recommendations to
the appropriate agency and governments.
8. To speak on key political issues that affect the Black community’s
participation in Canada’s parliamentary democracy.
9. To build coalitions with formal and informal leaders and groups
from Canada’s Black communities.
